Juvenile delinquency and its moral aspects
Průšová, Barbora ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Podaná, Zuzana (referee)
This thesis is focused on analysis of youth delinquency in terms of Per-Olof H. Wikström's Situational Action Theory or rather modelling data relating to this area of research International Self-Report Delinquency Study 3. The main aim of the thesis is to introduce and evaluate this theoretical-empirical model for the explanation of youth delinquency. The work is split into three main parts - theoretical, methodological and empirical. First one consists of the definition of basic concepts and show Wikström' s 'situational action theory applied to the delinquency topic. In methodological part there is a description of ISRD-3 survey, basic indicators of sample and data collection methods used. And then there is an explanation how operationalization of individual explanatory variables in the model was done. Empirical part is dedicated to multidimensional analysis of data and evaluation of this concept. The results demonstrate the success of the analytical model and its application as a default theory in the examination of youth delinquency.
Mediation of juvenile delinquents
Herman, Iryna ; Podaná, Zuzana (advisor) ; Homolová, Pavla (referee)
(in English): This thesis deals with a restorative justice, or the most widespread method, which represents the mediation. This method is then described in the standard form used in the Czech Republic as well as in the redesigned version adapted for violent crime in the US, which is contained in the first theoretical part. In the practical part, these two forms of mediation are compared with each other. Different moments are then reflected on three case studies, where appeared a mediation of violent juvenile crime. The results of comparison shows that the modified parameters of meidation used in case of violent crimes were not in these case studies demonstrated. This may be due to the fact that all the actionswere of less violent severity, so the differen elements of mediation didnť have to be necesery exploited.
Identification of a respondent as a gang member in ISRD-2: Czech republic in the European context
Moravcová, Eva ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Sládek, Jan (referee)
This thesis focuses on problems with identification of respondent as a gang member from the standpoint of process of operationalisation, which give a selection of adequate indicators, in international survey International Self-Report Delinquency Study 2. Its objective is to propose a revision of existing definition of Eurogang for selected European countries and evaluate the possibility of creating one universal definition of a gang across Europe. The thesis is separated into three parts: theoretical, methodological and empirical. In the first part we particularly pay attention to the basic conceptions of juvenile delinquency. Subsequently, we discuss different types of definitions and the way of their formation. Finally, we mention important definitions of a gang that are often used in many surveys which focus on gangs or delinquent groups in general. In methodological part of the thesis we present the most important indicators of juvenile delinquency: official statistics and self-report studies. One of them is also the international survey ISRD-2. We concentrate not only on techniques of data collection and definition of the gang and its operationalisation according to Eurogang group, which were used in this survey, but also on basic information about sample for all analyzed countries and limit...
Youth Violent Delinquency in the Czech Republic based on comparison of ISRD-2 and ISRD-3
Pešková, Veronika ; Podaná, Zuzana (advisor) ; Krulichová, Eva (referee)
The following thesis examines the violent juvenile delinquency of the Czech youth and has supportive evidence from two sweeps of the International Self-Report Delinquency Study (ISRD). The first sweep in the Czech Republic was conducted in 2006/7 (ISRD-2) and the second sweep was conducted in 2013 (ISRD-3). The theoretical section focuses on risk factors, which are linked with violent delinquency, and theoretical foundations of aforesaid research ISRD. The theoretical foundations of aforesaid research are primarily social control theories. The remaining part of the thesis centres around a statistical analysis, which compares two data sets primarily focusing on violent delinquency, victimization and gender differences. Furthermore, the link between family bonds and parental supervision with violent delinquency is analysed, followed by a comparison of sample cases from Prague, Pilsen and the remainder of the Czech Republic. The final conclusions display that the prevalence of violent delinquency and gender difference in violent delinquency has decreased significantly. The link between family bonds and violent delinquency was proven to be statistically significant and the same can be stated for parental supervision, although the relations were not proven to be very strong. In addition, no statistically...
